"Uncovering the Beauty and Benefits of the Red-Flower Gum Tree"

Updated: Apr 4

This stunning tree, featuring one-of-a-kind red flowers, is called the Red-Flower Gum, also known as the Scarlet Flowering Gum. It comes in different colours like orange or pink. It is one of many gumtrees found in Australia native to Western Australia. It is popularly used as an ornamental tree due to its impressive height, lollipop shape, and fluffy scarlet or vermillion flowers blooming from winter to summer. These flowers also contribute to the tree's natural beauty and attract wild bees and birds.

Whenever I venture into the forest, I always take a moment to gaze upwards and spot any koalas that might be hanging out in the Red Flowering Gums or other eucalyptus type of trees. These trees are a beloved food source for these cute creatures, and I always feel lucky when come across them. My mom and I have a friendly competition to see who can spot a koala first, and the winner is rewarded with a treat. We also love to collect fresh Eucalyptus leaves and take in their invigorating scent. I might even experiment with making my own Eucalyptus oil one day.

This tree can grow up to ten meters tall, and its colourful flowers make it perfect for Christmas flower arrangements. Using cuttings from this tree in an Ikebana arrangement can create a beautiful design.

When venturing through a dense forest on a hike or walk, encountering a variety of eucalyptus trees and charming creatures is not uncommon. It is essential to approach them with kindness and show respect for their privacy.
